Select has partnered with Textile Recycle Australia (TRA) to address uniform wastage by diverting preloved PPE uniforms from landfill disposal. The uniforms will be repurposed through TRA's processes, transforming them into new yarns suitable for various applications.

This initiative aligns with Select’s ongoing commitments to social and environmental responsibilities. Select’s environmental commitment is to be a net zero company by 2050, firstly by electrifying its fleet and using renewable resources for power.

Select’s Business Growth and Development Manager, Lauren Wilson, and HSE Manager, Trevor Tunks, recently visited TRA’s facility in New South Wales, saying, “We were amazed at the diverse range of materials they produce from yarns to felt underlays. TRA is innovative and collaborates with Australian universities to produce fabric dyes from recycled textiles. We look forward to working with TRA to develop Select’s sustainability commitments.”

The partnership between Select and TRA marks a stride towards a more sustainable future for uniform disposal. By leveraging TRA's expertise, Select reinforces its commitment to sustainable practices and driving positive industry change.
